Viable Cities verkar för att informations- och kommunikationsteknik och digitalisering ska skynda på omställningen till hållbara energisystem för städer. Programmet ska vara en katalysator för nya former av samarbete mellan städer, näringsliv, akademi, forskningsinstitut och civilsamhälle. Viable Cities är ett svenskt innovationsprogram med målsättningen att utveckla smarta och hållbara städer. Målet med programmet är att uppnå ”klimatneutrala städer till 2030 med ett gott liv för alla inom planetens gränser”. I Sverige är ett 80-tal aktörer inom alla samhällssektorer med och bidrar inom programmet.
